What the shift looks like
- Call-only coverage (in-house) with a 1:5 call ratio.
- Call types include 12- and 24-hour shifts, available weekdays and weekends. Note: two consecutive 24-hour weekday shifts are not permitted (Fri/Sat, Sat/Sun, or Sun/Mon are allowed).
- Expect an average of 65–80 deliveries per month and roughly 2–5 nursery admissions.
- When you’re on call, you’ll most likely have a resident available to assist.

- Practice mix: ~40% low-risk pregnancies, ~60% high-risk pregnancies; C-section rate varies.
- Required OB skills: management of low- and high-risk pregnancies (e.g., twins, preeclampsia, diabetes, cardiac/renal/lung disease), fetal heart rate interpretation (NST/CST/FSE), level I/screening obstetric ultrasound (viability), and amniocentesis.
- Labor & Delivery: routine vaginal deliveries, low forceps, decision-making for and performing C-sections (including complicated cases like breech, multiple births, abruptions), VBACs, and repair of 3rd/4th degree lacerations.
- Gynecologic procedures: minor laparoscopic/open procedures (tubal ligation, LOAs) and operative/major procedures as needed (ectopic pregnancy, oophorectomy, cystectomy, extensive LOAs).
- Support team: 4 attending physicians in practice, plus 1–2 CNMs and L&D, postpartum, OR, and ER support staff.

- Willingness to work at least Monday–Friday.
- No two consecutive 24-hour weekday shifts.
- Two references required (one must be from a supervisor or above).
- Clean malpractice and background history.
If you’re comfortable managing a high-risk obstetric population, performing a range of operative deliveries and gynecologic procedures, and working a structured in-house call schedule, this role offers steady caseload and solid support from residents and midlevel staff.
