We’re looking for an experienced Emergency Medicine NP/PA to join an inpatient emergency department team in Meridian, Mississippi. This is a locum tenens assignment that begins January 1, 2026, and will be ongoing. The ED is a new startup with a go-live date of 12/02/2025 and is filling a full-time vacancy.
Schedule & Coverage
- Flexible clinical schedule with a daily staffing model that includes 30 MD hours and 18 NP/PA hours per day.
- Coverage begins 01/01/2026 and is open/ongoing.
- Clinical-only coverage (no administrative duties required).
Patient Population & Clinical Scope
- Care for both adults and pediatric patients across the full acuity spectrum.
- Manage ED admissions per department workflow and provide phone consults as needed.
- Broad case mix typical of emergency medicine: evaluation, stabilization, and management of urgent and emergent conditions.
Facility & Support
- Electronic medical record: Epic.
- Standard emergency department setup and equipment.
- Strong onsite support with physician backup (30 MD coverage daily) and 18 NPPAs available per day.
- Nearest airport: Meridian Regional Airport (MEI).
Privileges, Compliance & Credentialing
- Hospital privileges are required (temporary privileges not specified).

Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Active Mississippi RN/NP/PA state license.

- Active DEA registration with Controlled Substance Permit (CSPA).
- Current ACLS, PALS, and BLS certifications.
- Prior emergency medicine experience is preferred.
Clinical Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency care across all acuity levels.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic emergency conditions.
- Perform emergency medicine procedures appropriate to APP scope of practice.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and initiate treatment plans.
- Document and coordinate care in Epic.
- Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.
- Follow hospital policies, safety protocols, and compliance standards.
