Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician – Texarkana, TX (Inpatient ED, EPIC)

We’re seeking an Emergency Medicine physician to provide locum tenens inpatient coverage in Texarkana, Texas, beginning 01/01/2026 and continuing on an ongoing basis. You’ll work clinical-only shifts in the ED; see the coverage model for specific shift details.

You’ll care for both adults and pediatrics, managing a typical ED case mix that includes acute medical emergencies, trauma, and stroke. Admissions are part of the role. Patient volumes and departmental bed counts are TBD. The facility uses EPIC for documentation and you’ll collaborate closely with physicians, APPs, and other specialty backup as needed.

Credentialing and compliance:

• Hospital privileges are required; expect a credentialing timeline of up to 90 days.
• Required certifications: ACLS and PALS, life support per service line, and standard immunization compliance (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, annual flu, and TB screening by QuantiFERON or 2-step).
• Ongoing education: stroke education (4 hours/year) and trauma education (9 hours/year, 27 hours over a 3-year cycle).
• You must maintain CME logs for the past 24 months and provide case logs from the same period.

Licensing and documentation:

• Active Texas medical license and an active DEA with a Texas address are required.
• Board certified preferred; board eligible accepted if you can confirm your exam date.
• Application packet should include an updated CV, completed application, government photo ID, three peer references, education and training verification, and other items such as DD214 (if applicable) or ECFMG documentation. If TB-positive history exists, a chest x-ray and questionnaire will be required.

Compensation and logistics:

• Pay is daily with overtime after 12 hours (differential-based) and weekly overtime after 168 hours (fixed).
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

Typical duties:

• Provide ED coverage for assigned shifts, managing acute care, trauma, and stroke patients.
• Collaborate with APPs and the multidisciplinary team to deliver timely, high-quality care.
• Accurately document all care in EPIC and maintain required CME, credentialing, and immunization compliance.
