We’re seeking a locum tenens Emergency Medicine physician to join the team in Texarkana, TX, covering the emergency department at CHRISTUS Health Pine Street. This role is clinical-only with flexible start on 01/01/2026 and ongoing openings. Shifts are 12 hours: 7a–7p and 7p–7a.

What you’ll be treating and doing

• See adult and pediatric patients across a broad emergency case mix: general EM, trauma, stroke, cardiac, and other acute presentations. Admissions and phone consultations for specialty coordination are part of the role.
• Provide full emergency care: assess, diagnose, stabilize, treat, and disposition patients.
• Activate and participate in trauma, stroke, and cardiac response protocols when needed.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, NPs/PAs (coverage 11a–8p), nurses, and ancillary staff to keep patient flow moving and outcomes high.
• Document care in Epic in an accurate and timely manner.
• Maintain compliance with CHRISTUS Health policies and required CME for stroke and trauma competency.

• CHRISTUS Health Pine Street is a regional comprehensive facility offering emergency, surgical, and specialty services with faith-centered patient care supported by advanced technology.
• You’ll have access to standard ER diagnostics and monitoring equipment and full specialty backup per CHRISTUS standards.
• Support staff on hand include physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and ancillary personnel.

Credentials, compliance, and logistics

• Active Texas medical license required; temporary privileges are available. Credentialing typically takes up to 90 days.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred.
• Active DEA registration with a Texas address required.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, TNCC per hospital policy.
• You must provide CV, photo ID, board certification, references, proof of immunizations or positive titers (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Flu), and TB screening within the past year (Quantiferon, T-Spot, or 2-step skin test). If TB positive, chest x-ray and questionnaire required.
• Maintain CME documentation: minimum 4 stroke hours annually and 9 trauma hours every 3 years.

• Coverage period begins 01/01/2026 with open shifts; schedule consists of daily 12-hour blocks (7a–7p and 7p–7a).
