We’re seeking a locum tenens Emergency Medicine physician to join our inpatient team in Atlanta, TX from 01/01/2026 through 08/01/2026. You’ll work 12-hour shifts (7a–7p and 7p–7a) providing clinical coverage in a busy emergency department that serves both adults and pediatric patients.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver full-spectrum emergency care: assess, diagnose, stabilize, and treat patients with acute illnesses and injuries.
  • Manage general EM cases as well as trauma, stroke, and other acute care presentations.
  • Admit patients as needed and coordinate phone consults with specialists.
  • Participate in trauma, cardiac, and stroke response protocols and maintain competencies through required CME.
  • Document thoroughly and promptly using Epic.
  • Work collaboratively with nurses, physicians, and ancillary staff, following CHRISTUS Health policies and quality standards.

Facility and support

  • You’ll be working in an ER equipped with standard diagnostic and monitoring tools and supported by physicians, nurses, and full specialty backup per CHRISTUS Health protocols.
  • Epic is the EMR in use.
  • This role is intended as supplemental clinical coverage.

Credentials, licensure, and compliance

  • Active Texas medical license and an active DEA registration with a Texas address are required.
  • Hospital privileges are required; temporary privileges are available. Please allow up to 90 days for credentialing.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine preferred; FM/IM-trained physicians with ED experience will be considered.
  • Required certifications: ACLS (if not Board Certified EM), ATLS, NIHSS, BLS, PALS, TNCC as per hospital policy.
  • You must provide a completed application packet (CV, photo ID, board verification, references), proof of immunizations or positive titers (Hep B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Flu), and TB screening within the last year (Quantiferon, T-Spot, or 2-step skin test). If TB positive, chest X-ray and questionnaire are required.
  • Maintain CME documentation: at least 4 stroke hours annually and 9 trauma hours every 3 years.

Compensation and logistics

  • Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance will be covered.

Required clinical competencies

  • Competent in standard ED procedures and expected to maintain stroke and trauma care competency via CME and hospital processes.
