Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist — Inpatient/Outpatient Coverage (Sylva & Clyde, NC)

We're seeking a gastroenterology physician to provide locum tenens coverage for our hospitals in Sylva and Clyde, North Carolina. This is a clinical position covering both inpatient and outpatient services with ongoing coverage needed ASAP.

What the role looks like

• Schedule: Weekdays and weekends; prefer full-time. Call schedule to be determined.
• Call: Beeper system, 1:1 ratio, 30-minute response time, 100% callback. Expect 6–10 phone consults per shift.
• Patient volume: 10+ patients; average 6 admissions. Rounding is included.
• Coverage: Physicians are expected to cover both hospitals while on call.
• Support: RN and MA support available.
• Facilities: Sylva (86 beds) and Clyde (154 beds).
• EMR: McKesson and Athena.

Procedures you’ll perform

• Upper endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration/cautery/laser of bleeders, variceal injection, PEG placement, esophageal dilatation and manometry (including interpretation), small bowel biopsy, ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic).
• Lower endoscopy including flexible and rigid sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy and polypectomy.

Credentials and logistics

• Licensure: Active NC medical license required. Temporary privileges available; hospital privileges required.
• Certification: BC/BE in Gastroenterology; BLS required. Up-to-date immunizations required.
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
