Locum Tenens Hematology/Oncology Physician — Outpatient Only, Cooperstown NY (Epic, Travel/Lodging Covered)

We’re seeking a locum tenens Hematology/Oncology physician to join an outpatient team in Cooperstown, NY, starting 12/27/2025 with ongoing coverage. This is a clinical-only role, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (40 hours/week).

What you’ll be doing

• Provide outpatient hematology and oncology care to adult patients, managing a variable clinic volume.
• Focus primarily on oncology (~80%) with the remainder in hematology, including both benign and malignant cases.
• Collaborate closely with an on-site physician, an NP, and nursing staff.
• Accurately document all encounters in Epic.
• Coordinate or perform bone marrow procedures when appropriate (most bone marrow procedures are handled by Interventional Radiology).

Patient and clinical details

• Adult patient population.
• Patient volume varies by mix; clinics are busy.
• This position is outpatient-only: no admissions or rounding responsibilities.
• Phone consult expectations to be determined.

Facility and support

• EMR: Epic.
• Support staff: 1 MD, 1 NP, and additional nursing staff on-site.
• Interventional Radiology is available and handles most bone marrow procedures.
• Coverage is needed due to a vacancy until a full-time hire is in place.

Privileges, credentialing, and compliance

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges are not available.
• Credentialing typically takes about 120 days.
• Required compliance items: immunization record, flu vaccine or signed declination, and a negative TB test or QuantiFERON Gold within one year of your start date.

Qualifications

• Active New York medical license required.
• Board certified in Hematology/Oncology required.
• Outpatient Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
• Compliance items and immunization documentation required prior to start.

Compensation and logistics

• Rate: TBD.
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided.
