Contract Forensic Psychiatrist — Correctional Facility, Bakersfield CA

Coverage: Clinical only
Schedule: 5x8 or 4x10-hour shifts (TBD)
Patient volume: 10–17 patients/day
EMR: Smart Care

Summary:
Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for adult patients in a correctional outpatient setting. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and document care in the EMR.

Required qualifications:

• Active California medical license
• Board certified (BC) in Psychiatry
• DEA license and DEA X-waiver
• BLS certification
• Prior experience working in correctional facilities

Core responsibilities:

• Perform psychiatric evaluations and mental health diagnostics.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management.
• Provide ongoing psychiatric care and treatment as indicated.
• Document all clinical encounters and treatment plans in Smart Care EMR.
• Apply clinical expertise to complex or atypical psychiatric presentations.
• Coordinate care and maintain effective working relationships with multidisciplinary staff.
• Supervise or direct professional staff as required.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to facility policies and security procedures.
