Locum Tenens Urgent Care NP/PA – Roanoke Rapids & Multiple NC Locations

We’re seeking a General Nurse Practitioner to provide urgent care coverage across multiple outpatient centers in North Carolina, with primary needs in Roanoke Rapids and other locations including Goldsboro, Wilson, Boone, Kinston, Wilmington, Sanford, Hickory, Garner, Fayetteville, Greenville, Wilkesboro, and Fuquay-Varina. This is a locum tenens opportunity for supplemental clinical coverage, starting ASAP and ongoing.

What the role looks like

• Setting: Outpatient urgent care centers
• Coverage type: Clinical only; you’ll often be the sole provider in the center
• Schedule: Shifts TBD based on site needs
• Patient population: All ages (6 months and up)
• Typical patient volume: Averages vary by site — ~20 patients/day at Roanoke Rapids, Wilmington, Boone, and Sanford; ~30/day at Kinston; up to 40/day at other locations
• Support team: Center manager, medical assistant (MA), patient service associate (PSA); supervising physician is offsite

Key responsibilities

• Independently evaluate and manage patients across the lifespan as the sole clinician on site
• Perform common urgent care procedures, such as incision & drainage, laceration repair, ear irrigation, and other minor procedures
• Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and support staff—strong soft skills are important
• Complete EMR documentation in Epic (see training requirements below)

Systems, training, and logistics

• EMR: Epic (modified training schedule). You must complete EMR training and onboarding before your first solo shift and disclose your level of Epic proficiency upfront.
• Travel: No travel assignments required beyond mileage; travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance coverage details provided as applicable
• Candidates are expected to support sites within a 65-mile radius of their residence when needed

Required qualifications

• Active NC license
• Board certified
• BLS required
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in urgent care or similar setting
• DOT and PALS/ACLS preferred
