Job Description

Adelphi is seeking a licensed and experienced Medical Director to provide psychiatric and administrative leadership at a state mental-health facility located in Cook County, Illinois. The Medical Director will oversee the quality, safety, and effectiveness of psychiatric and medical services, ensuring that all care meets established professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry (ABPN or equivalent)
  • Active and unrestricted Illinois medical license and controlled-substance registration
  • Valid DEA registration and NPI number
  • Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience in psychiatric or behavioral-health settings
  • At least three (3) years of medical administrative experience in psychiatric program leadership
  • Experience in state, public, or forensic mental-health facilities preferred
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission, CMS, and OSHA standards
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise multidisciplinary healthcare teams and manage clinical protocols
  • Ability to pass comprehensive background and drug screening
  • Completion of required orientation and infection-control training prior to start Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical oversight and medical leadership for all psychiatric services.
  • Supervise and collaborate with psychiatrists, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based treatment protocols and quality-assurance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards, infection-control policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Lead performance-improvement initiatives and support risk-management efforts.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and administrative reviews.
  • Serve as a liaison for clinical communication and coordination across disciplines.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and state law.
