We’re looking for a full-time Respiratory Therapist to join our team in Laconia, NH — start ASAP. This position follows an 8:00 AM–4:30 PM schedule and is based in a skilled nursing setting.
What we need from you
- Successful completion of an NBRC‑approved, accredited respiratory therapy program plus at least one year of clinical experience under medical supervision.
- Current state licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS/CPR) certification.
What you’ll do
You’ll provide hands-on respiratory care for residents, working closely with nursing and medical staff to develop and carry out treatment plans. Typical duties include:
- Initiating, monitoring, and maintaining life support systems and artificial ventilators per facility protocol.
- Performing airway care and maintenance, including trach care, suctioning, and ventilator troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Participating in CPR and emergency response (bag ventilation, chest compressions) as a member of the emergency team.
- Assessing cardiopulmonary status using history, physical exam, lab data, chest radiology, pulmonary function tests, and clinical judgment to develop and implement respiratory care plans per physician orders.
- Verifying physician orders for completeness before treatment (diagnosis, ICD‑10 code, therapy type/duration, medication/dose, FIO2, frequency).
- Reviewing resident charts for history and precautions and notifying supervisors of new starts or discontinued services.
- Administering and documenting respiratory therapies and medications, adjusting devices and equipment (masks, mouthpieces, trachs) to optimize comfort and effectiveness.
- Delivering specific modalities such as intermittent positive pressure breathing, handheld nebulizer treatments, chest physiotherapy (percussion, vibration), breathing and cough retraining, incentive spirometry, sputum induction, and deep tracheal suctioning.
- Monitoring and charting respiratory rate, pulse, breath sounds, medication reactions, and any therapy-related difficulties; communicating findings to the resident’s nurse and ensuring accurate documentation.
- Inspecting, testing, cleaning, reassembling, and maintaining respiratory equipment; maintaining supply inventories and logging oxygen and equipment use.
- Troubleshooting diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and performing quality control and preventive maintenance to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Instructing residents and families in respiratory procedures to promote cooperation and maximize rehabilitation.
- Participating in interdisciplinary rounds, conferences, educational programs, and quality assurance activities to support continuous improvement and coordinated care.
- Accepting and transcribing verbal orders for respiratory care and performing other duties as assigned by management.
