Schedule

• Clinical: Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM–5:00 PM
• Call: Intermittent weeknight call (Mon–Thu); one weekend per month
• Call type: Beeper; call distributed equitably across surgeons

Patient population & clinical scope

• Adults only
• Inpatient admissions and management
• Case mix: adult cardiothoracic surgical procedures, emergent and scheduled
• Rounding: daily with APP support; phone consults required

Required procedures & responsibilities

• Perform inpatient cardiothoracic surgical cases, including emergent weekend OR cases as needed
• Pre-operative and post-operative rounding (with APP support)
• Cosign APP progress and consult notes; add surgeon notes as required
• Respond to escalated calls from ER, CVICU, and PAs
• Participate in night call rotation (Mon–Thu) and weekend coverage per schedule

Facility & support

• Specialty backup: Cardiology, Surgery, CVICU
• On-site support: CTS APP coverage, APPs, Surgical PAs
• Reason for coverage: ongoing department coverage needs

Qualifications

• Active Florida medical license required
• BC/BE in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active DEA registration
• BLS/ACLS as applicable
• Cardiothoracic surgery experience required
• Ability to collaborate with APPs; telehealth not required

Compensation & logistics

• Pay: Fixed daily rate (OT after 10 hours; weekly OT after 168 hours)
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance: provided by the facility
