Setting: Inpatient psychiatric facility
Coverage: Onsite and telehealth
Schedule: Full-time preferred; flexible per facility needs
Employment Type: Contract
Compensation: $95/hour
Required qualifications
- Active, good-standing psychologist license with the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, or licensure as a Psy.D practitioner with the Texas Medical Board
- Minimum 1 year of relevant forensic psychology experience
- Completion of credentialing, background checks, and required continuing education
Forensic certification / training (one of the following)
- ABPP Specialty Certification in Forensic Psychology, OR
- All of the following:
- ≥24 hours specialized forensic training in competency/insanity evaluations
- 8 hours forensic continuing education within the past 12 months
- 6 hours forensic psychology/psychiatry CE within the past 24 months
Core responsibilities
- Conduct competency-to-stand-trial and sanity/insanity evaluations for forensic patients
- Perform violence risk assessments and related forensic evaluations
- Prepare and submit comprehensive written forensic reports for courts and referring agencies
- Provide expert witness testimony as required
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, legal staff, and facility administrators
- Participate in quality assurance and required continuing education activities
- Maintain compliance with facility policies and applicable state/federal regulations
