Overview
We’re seeking a locum tenens Emergency Medicine physician to join the team in Alton, Illinois. This is clinical-only emergency department coverage starting March 1, 2026 and continuing ongoing. Shifts are 12 hours (6a–6p and 6p–6a).

Who you’ll see and treat
You’ll care for a mixed adult and pediatric population in an ED that sees about 25,000 visits per year. The practice is full-spectrum emergency medicine with pediatric cases and active stroke care — admissions are part of the workflow.

The facility and support

• 16-bed emergency department with telemetry monitoring
• Certified Stroke Center and state-approved pediatric capabilities
• NP/PA support available for 14 hours each day

Credentials and requirements

• Active Illinois medical license
• BC/BE in Emergency Medicine (ABEM preferred)
• DEA registration and controlled substances license (CSL) required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS current
• Recent ED experience and comfort treating all age groups, including stroke response

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide emergency medical care to adult and pediatric patients
• Manage patient flow and clinical care in the 16-bed ED during assigned 12-hour shifts
• Collaborate with NP/PAs and other support staff
• Follow protocols for state-approved pediatric care and Certified Stroke Center standards
• Perform full-spectrum ED procedures, including pediatric emergency interventions and stroke management
