Travel RN House Supervisor (Nights) — Arcata, CA

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to step into a House Supervisor role in Arcata, CA — nights, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., contract/travel with an immediate start. This position covers a 36-hour period at a rate of $2,434.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead and support nursing teams across units during your shift, providing clinical oversight and guidance.
• Manage patient flow: coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges while ensuring beds and staffing are balanced.
• Act as the administrator-on-duty for your shift — handle operational problems, staff concerns, and patient/family issues.
• Respond to emergencies, rapid responses, and other critical events, directing resources and care as needed.
• Make quick, informed decisions during crises and juggle multiple priorities to keep the unit running smoothly.
• Assess staffing needs in real time, reassign personnel to maintain safe patient ratios, and document those decisions.
• Support teams with conflict resolution, problem-solving, and appropriate escalation to leadership.
• Ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
• Document incidents, operational concerns, and communicate important updates to leadership to maintain continuity.

What we’re looking for

• Active RN license in the state where you’ll practice.
• 2–3+ years of acute care nursing experience; supervisory or charge nurse experience is strongly preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS; additional facility-specific certifications may be required.
• Strong clinical assessment skills, clear communication, and proven leadership abilities.
• Experience with patient flow management and familiarity with hospital operations is a plus.
