Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist — Midlothian, VA (Call-Only; Travel, Lodging & Malpractice Covered)

We’re seeking a Gastroenterology locum tenens to provide supplemental inpatient and outpatient coverage in Midlothian, VA. This role is primarily call-only coverage and begins Jan 9, 2026, with ongoing dates through June. You’ll care for adult patients and cover both routine and urgent procedures; average procedures per weekend are about eight.

What the schedule looks like

• 24-hour beeper call shifts running from Friday 5:00 p.m. to Monday 7:00 a.m.
• Specific shift blocks to fill:
  • Jan: 9–12, 16–19, 23–26, 30–Feb 2
  • Feb: 6–9, 13–16, 20–23, 27–Mar 2
  • Mar: 6–9, 13–16, 20–23, 27–30
  • Apr: 3–6, 10–13, 17–20, 24–27
  • May: 1–4, 8–11, 15–18, 22–26 (Tue), 29–Jun 1
  • Jun: 5–8, 12–15, 19–22, 26–29

Procedures and resources

• Common procedures: colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, upper GI endoscopy, ERCP, small bowel biopsy, liver biopsy, esophageal dilation and manometry with interpretation, insertion/management of Sengstaken-Blakemore tube
• EUS is preferred but not required
• Lab and X-ray available onsite
• EMR: Epic

Compensation and logistics

• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.

Minimum requirements

• Active Virginia medical license
• Board certified in Gastroenterology
• Clean professional record
• Flu shot required; COVID vaccination preferred
