Locum tenens opportunity in Portage, WI — 26 weeks, start ASAP. Schedule: 07:00 AM–03:30 PM. Rate: $54.90/hr.

Position overview:
Provide clinical social work services within a secure correctional setting, delivering evidence-based assessment, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and case coordination to incarcerated individuals. Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to support stabilization, treatment progress, and successful reentry planning while maintaining compliance with facility and regulatory standards.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
  • Current, active Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential.
  • At least two years of clinical experience, ideally in mental health, crisis intervention, or correctional/forensic settings.
  • Strong working knowledge of DSM-5, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
  • Ability to function effectively within a secure facility and in multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and diagnostic interviews.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans for incarcerated clients.
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches.
  • Deliver crisis intervention, suicide risk assessments, and stabilization services as required.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with facility, state, HIPAA, and PREA requirements.
  • Coordinate care and referrals to specialized services and community resources; assist with reentry planning.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and mental health rounds.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives, contribute to audits and policy development, and offer psychoeducation and staff consultation on managing individuals with mental health needs.
