Rate: Local: $1,012/36 hours

Requirements:

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license for the state of New Mexico
  • Current BLS certification

Overview:
Provide direct patient care under RN or physician supervision in an acute care setting. Deliver safe, patient-centered nursing services, accurately document care, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, vital sign monitoring, and catheter care.
  • Conduct focused patient assessments (physical exams, medical history, medication reviews) to support individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments with accurate dosing and adherence to protocols.
  • Perform wound assessment, cleaning, dressing, and monitoring for signs of infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition; report concerns to supervising staff.
  • Collect patient specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing following facility procedures.
  • Maintain clear, timely, and accurate patient records, including treatments and medications administered.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and self-care to promote recovery and wellness.
  • Assist with positioning, mobility, pain management, and other comfort and safety needs.
  • Respond to emergencies per facility protocols and provide basic life support as required.
  • Follow infection control practices and properly handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies.
  • Promote preventive health measures (vaccinations, screenings) and support health assessments.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and coordinate care with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and support staff.
  • May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain competency and comply with regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
