We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse for a 14-week contract (non-travel) position in Waterville, ME. Start ASAP. Schedule: 05:45 AM–06:15 PM. Local rate: $1,033/36 hours.
Requirements:
- Active, valid LPN license for the state of Maine
- BLS certification
Overview:
Provide hands-on nursing care under RN or physician supervision, delivering safe, patient-centered services across medication administration, wound care, IV and catheter management, vital sign monitoring, and routine assessments. Document patient status, treatments, and responses accurately and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments (physical exams, histories, medication reviews) and contribute to individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments safely, following protocols and proper documentation
- Manage wounds and dressings; monitor for infection or complications
- Insert, monitor, and maintain IV lines and urinary catheters as indicated
- Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing
- Monitor and record vital signs and patient condition changes
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, and self-care
- Promote patient comfort, mobility, safety, and pain management
- Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support as needed
- Follow infection control, medication handling, and disposal procedures
- Advocate for patient rights and participate in preventive care initiatives
- Supervise CNAs/UAPs when applicable and perform other duties as assigned by management
- Maintain professional development and stay current with nursing practices and regulations
