Coverage dates:
- Primary: March 27–April 5, 2026
- Additional weekends and select holidays throughout the year as scheduled
Call schedule: - 24-hour on-call shifts (7:00 am–7:00 am)
- Call type: beeper
- Call ratio: approximately 1 weekend per month
Clinical scope:
- Patient population: adults
- Case mix: general neurosurgery, spine surgery, peripheral nerve and brachial plexus cases
- Admissions and rounding included as needed during call
- Phone consults required
- Volume: variable based on call
Facility & support:
- Trauma level: Adult II–IV
- EMR: Epic
- Neurosurgery staff: 5 neurosurgeons on staff for specialty backup
- Support: neurosurgeons and clinical team available
Privileges & credentialing:
- Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges not available
- Credentialing timeline: 60–90 days
Requirements:
- Active NC medical license
- Board certified in neurosurgery
- Active DEA registration
- Minimum 2 years post-training neurosurgery experience
- Ability to integrate with Cone Health culture
Responsibilities:
- Provide 24-hour call coverage for assigned weekends/holidays
- Respond to neurosurgery consults and emergencies
- Perform neurosurgical, spine, peripheral nerve, and brachial plexus procedures within granted privileges
- Coordinate care with support staff and document all encounters and procedures in Epic
