RN Unit Manager (Nurse Unit Manager) — 14-Week Contract, Falmouth ME

We’re looking for an experienced nursing leader to step into a temporary Nurse Unit Manager role in Falmouth, ME. This is a contract (non-travel) position starting ASAP for 14 weeks with a weekday day-shift schedule (Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM). Compensation for local candidates is $2,360 per 40-hour week.

What you’ll need

• Active, valid Registered Nurse license for the state of Maine
• Proven nursing leadership experience
• BLS certification

What you’ll do

• Provide hands-on leadership and direction to the unit’s nursing team (RNs, LPNs, CNAs), ensuring policies and procedures are followed
• Oversee patient care delivery including assessments, medication administration, documentation, and timely updates to care plans
• Help plan and manage staffing and scheduling to maintain smooth, safe patient care
• Coach, mentor, and educate staff to support their professional development and best practices
• Monitor quality and compliance standards, conduct audits, and drive improvement initiatives when needed
• Coordinate communication across the healthcare team to ensure cohesive, patient-centered care
• Advocate for patients, respond to concerns, and address issues promptly
• Lead the response to medical emergencies according to established protocols
• Ensure accurate documentation in the electronic health record system
• Stay current with healthcare regulations and ensure staff compliance
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
