Position overview:
Provide clinical social work services within a secure correctional setting, delivering assessment, treatment, crisis intervention, and reentry support for incarcerated individuals with mental health needs. Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to promote safety, stabilization, and continuity of care.

Minimum qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
• Current, active Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) credential.
• At least 2 years of clinical experience, ideally in mental health, crisis intervention, or correctional/forensic environments.
• Proficiency with DSM-5, evidence-based therapeutic modalities, and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to function effectively in a secure facility and collaborate with custody and clinical staff.

Core responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and diagnostic interviews.
• Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual and group psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches.
• Deliver crisis intervention, suicide risk assessments, and stabilization services as required.
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with facility and state standards.

Case coordination and collaboration:

• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, and mental health rounds.
• Coordinate referrals to specialty services and community providers as needed.
• Liaise with psychiatrists, psychologists, nursing staff, correctional officers, and other stakeholders.
• Support reentry planning by connecting individuals to community resources, housing, and ongoing behavioral health care.

Compliance, quality, and documentation:

• Maintain confidential clinical records and ensure compliance with licensing requirements, HIPAA, PREA, and correctional regulations.
• Contribute to audits, quality improvement efforts, and policy development to enhance service delivery.

Education and staff support:

• Provide psychoeducation to inmates on mental health, coping skills, substance use, and relapse prevention.
• Offer consultation and training to custody and facility staff on managing and supporting individuals with mental health needs.
• Promote a trauma-informed, rehabilitative approach within the correctional setting.
