- Shifts needed: Jan 16 (5:00 PM) to Jan 18 (7:00 AM); Feb 6 (5:00 PM) to Feb 8 (7:00 AM)
Call schedule: - 24-hour call (7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
Patient population: Adult and geriatric
Expected patient volume: 2–3 per shift
In-practice support: Hospitalist on site; OR and ICU support staff available
Facility: - 21 ORs
- EMR: Epic
- Hospital privileges required
- Mileage reimbursement and malpractice insurance provided
Procedures and clinical scope (expected/required competency):
- Bronchoscopy, navigational bronchoscopy, EBUS, EUS
- Robot-assisted thoracic surgery, VATS
- Tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy, pericardial window
- Mediastinoscopy, treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms, mediastinal masses, thymomas
- Lung resections: segmentectomy, lobectomy, bilobectomy, pneumonectomy; thoracotomy; decortication
- Esophageal procedures: anti-reflux surgery, dysphagia, esophageal cancer management, Barrett’s esophagus
- Pleural effusion, pneumothorax management; pleural disease including mesothelioma
- Chest wall tumors and reconstruction; rib fracture fixation/plating
- Diaphragm plication, diaphragmatic hernia repair
- Tracheal stenosis management
- Thoracic outlet syndrome
- COPD and pulmonary fibrosis care
- Hemodialysis access (listed)
Requirements:
- Active Virginia medical license
- Board certified (BC) in Thoracic Surgery
- BLS and ACLS
- Local candidates preferred
Coverage/credentialing notes:
- Hospital privileges required prior to coverage
- Mileage reimbursement and malpractice insurance provided by facility
