Locum Tenens Urologist — Eureka CA (Inpatient/Outpatient, OR Volume, Travel & Lodging Covered)

Join a well-supported urology team in Eureka, California, providing both inpatient and outpatient care on a locum tenens basis. You’ll be supplementing one local urologist in a modern facility, working with a dedicated support staff and taking call as needed.

Schedule overview

• Coverage starts May 4, 2026 and continues on an ongoing basis.
• Clinic: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• Hospital: Friday, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM
• Call: beeper call, about 7–10 days per month with a 20–30 minute response time
• Specific shifts requested: Jun 16–23; Jul 1–8; Aug 18–25; Sep 8–15; Oct 2–11; Nov 23–30; Dec 17–24

Patient mix and typical volume

• Mostly adult patients (~98%), with pediatric patients ~2%
• Expect 16+ patients per day on average
• Hospital surgical volume typically 3–6 cases per day
• Office procedures: roughly 8–10 cystoscopies and TRUS biopsies per week

Procedures and equipment

• Common procedures include advanced endoscopy, ureteroscopy, PCNL, laparoscopic surgery, nephrectomy, radical cystectomy/prostatectomy, prostatectomy, renal and bladder ultrasound, and TRUS biopsy
• Office equipment: GOBY urodynamics, Olympus flexible and rigid scopes, rectal ultrasound, Medivator sterilization system
• On-site lab and Epic EMR

Facility and team

• Trauma Level III hospital with 175 beds
• Six exam/procedure rooms (3 exam, 3 procedure)
• Support team: 2 RNs, 2 MAs, 3 office staff, and 1 manager
• You’ll be covering alongside one local urologist as supplemental support

Requirements and credentials

• Active California medical license required
• Board certified or board eligible in Urology
• ACLS certification
• California fluoroscopy permit
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience
• Hospital privileges required
