Hospitalist Medical Director Pensacola, FL

The hospital medicine facility medical director (FMD) is responsible for the oversight of care provided by all program hospitalists. As FMD, you will have the opportunity to be involved with staffing, managing the department, and overall supervision of medical care within the facility. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• In conjunction with the VP, operations and RMD, takes corrective action including termination of individuals who do not meet corporate, facility, or contractual performance standards
• Works with company divisional leadership to assure compliance with the operating budget is maintained
• Assists with recruitment and interviewing of all program staff
• Orients all new clinicians; consistently transmits to clinicians all information directed to them from company
• Provides medical administrative direction and oversight regarding the care of patients admitted to the hospitalist service
• Directs and oversees the program's compliance with voluntary, state and federal agencies, laws, rules and regulations; participates in JCAHO or other survey processes as needed
• Collaborates with facility administration in the development, approval and implementation of all policies, procedures and protocols for the program
• Conducts routine performance management reviews of practitioners in the department
• Oversees program staff and scheduling, making adjustments as necessary for adequate coverage for the program
• Creates an equitable schedule, periodically working all types of shifts
• Performs additional clinical staff physician duties
• Needs to be able to perform four clinical shifts per month
