Schedule

• Weekdays: variable shifts starting 7:00 (8–12 hr shifts) and evening 15:00–23:00
• Weekends: 12-hour shifts, 07:00–19:00 (minimum 5 shifts/month)
• Call: beeper; nights 19:00–07:00 with 2nd call 19:00–23:00 and 1st call 23:00–07:00
• Weekend call: nights 19:00–07:00; extended 07:00–07:00 as needed
• Call response time: 20–30 minutes; callback within 1–3 hours

Clinical Practice

• Patient mix: ~90% adults, ~10% pediatric
• Typical daily cases: 2–5
• Service mix: Orthopedics, Vascular, Head/Spine, Neuro, OB, Pediatric, Regional, Thoracic
• Team: 10 physicians; APPs, RNs, tech support
• Facility: 7 ORs, 144 beds, Level III trauma

Clinical Duties / Procedures

• General anesthesia for a broad case mix
• Spinal and epidural anesthesia
• Regional/nerve blocks and postoperative epidural/extremity blocks
• Pain management techniques
• Ventilator management, central and arterial line placement
• Evaluation and management of acute volume and blood pressure issues

Equipment available

• Sonosite ultrasound, Glidescope
• Flotrac, pulse oximetry, BIS monitor
• Disposable bronchoscopes
• Belmont rapid infuser, Hotline, IO drill

Requirements

• Active California medical license
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology
• Minimum 2 years clinical experience
• Current case logs
