Join a well-supported cardiothoracic surgery team in Hartford, CT, providing inpatient and outpatient coverage on a locum tenens basis. This clinical-plus-call role begins Feb 2026 and continues ongoing, with weekday shifts Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, and night/weekend call approximately 7–8 times per month (call shared among three providers). Duties are hospital-based and include OR cases, ICU care, and rounding in the ED and on the floors. Patient population is adult and geriatric.
Clinical scope and volume
- Average two operative cases per day
- Annual ED volume: ~85,000 visits
- Facilities: 3 ORs, Level I trauma center
- EMR: Epic
- Full ancillary/support staff available
Procedures commonly performed
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), including off-pump CABG and redo coronary revascularization
- Arterial revascularization using internal mammary, radial, and gastroepiploic arteries
- Heart valve repair and replacement (including CoreValve system and mitral valve repair)
- Thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic procedures, including descending aortic and thoracic aortic aneurysms
- Tube thoracostomy and pericardial window
Logistics and benefits

- Local mileage paid as needed
Requirements
- Active Connecticut cardiothoracic surgery license
- Board certified
- BLS and ACLS current
