Contract (non-travel) opportunity in Scarborough, ME — 14 weeks, start ASAP. Schedule: Mon–Fri, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Local rate: $2,636/40 hrs.

Requirements:

• Active, valid Registered Nurse license for the state of practice
• BSN or higher
• Previous nursing leadership experience, preferably as a Director of Nursing
• BLS certification

Role overview:
Lead and develop the nursing department to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Foster a collaborative, positive work environment and ensure clinical operations meet regulatory and organizational standards.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide clear leadership and mentorship to nursing staff, promoting teamwork and professional growth
• Oversee and coordinate patient care delivery, ensuring adherence to established protocols and best practices
• Recruit, orient, and supervise RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
• Maintain regulatory compliance, infection control, and patient safety standards through quality assurance activities
• Design and implement staff education and training programs to enhance clinical competencies
• Manage departmental budget and resources efficiently while preserving care quality
• Enforce adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
• Advocate for patients, address concerns, and support a patient-centered care culture
• Collaborate with quality improvement teams to identify trends and implement care enhancements
• Keep accurate, timely records of patient care, assessments, and departmental activities
• Participate in strategic planning and initiatives to improve nursing services
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management
