We’re seeking a locum tenens Emergency Medicine physician to join a busy inpatient team in Sioux City, IA, starting March 1, 2026, with an open-ended assignment based on coverage needs.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide full-scope emergency care to patients of all ages in a Level II trauma center.
• Manage acute and emergent conditions, perform physician-level ED procedures, and coordinate admissions.
• Round and provide phone consults as required; collaborate closely with hospitalists and consulting services.
• Document all patient encounters in Cerner EMR (in-person EMR training required before your first shift).

• Location: Sioux City, IA (inpatient ED)
• Annual ED volume: ~30,000 visits
• Licensed beds: 484
• Trauma designation: Level II
• Support: 24-hour physician coverage plus ~30 hours/day NP/PA coverage and specialty backup from hospitalist medicine
• Equipment: Standard ED resources and Cerner EMR

Schedule & coverage

• Clinical-only coverage beginning March 1, 2026; ongoing/open-ended based on needs.
• Daily overtime after 12 hours and weekly overtime after 168 hours (differential applied).

Compensation & logistics

• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance covered per locum agreement.

Required qualifications

• Active state medical license, CDS, and DEA with an Iowa address.
• Board certified in ABEM, ABFM, or ABIM (or osteopathic equivalents).
• Current ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications.
• Residency training in the certified specialty.
• CME documentation and case logs from the past two years.
• Hospital privileges required prior to in-person EMR training.

Patient mix & expectations

• Caring for all ages with a full-spectrum emergency case mix.
• Expect to handle admissions and coordinate care across services.
