Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — Bay City, MI (ASAP–Ongoing; Multiple Shifts)

We’re seeking an Emergency Medicine physician to provide supplemental locum tenens coverage at an outpatient facility in Bay City, MI. This is a clinical-only opportunity starting ASAP with ongoing shifts available. Travel, lodging, and malpractice coverage are provided.

Schedule and coverage

• Coverage period: ASAP – ongoing
• Shifts available: 6a–4p, 9a–9p, 2p–12a, and 8p–6a
• Specific shifts to fill: Feb 1, 13–16, 18, 20–21 (8p–6a); Feb 15–16, 22, 27 (2p–12a)
• Patient volume: ~80 patients/day (about 1.8 patients/hour)
• Coverage type: Clinical only, supplemental staffing

Clinical environment and support

• Service setting: Outpatient emergency department
• Support staff: Advanced Practice Provider coverage for 12 hours, full ED nursing and tech support, full radiology and laboratory services
• EMR: Cerner

Procedures and clinical expectations
You should be comfortable performing a broad range of emergency procedures and managing diverse presentations, including:

• Standard ED procedures and resuscitation (adult and pediatric)
• Newborn resuscitation
• Orthopedic care for non-displaced fractures
• Suturing of minor lacerations; incision & drainage
• Emergency psych evaluations for uncomplicated adult, child/adolescent, and geriatric patients
• Diagnosis and management of common industrial-related medical problems
• Ventilation management, including airway establishment and maintaining various ventilation modes for up to 24 hours without pulmonary consultation
• Evaluation and management of acute volume and blood pressure issues
• Central and arterial line placement
• EKG interpretation, arthrocentesis, lumbar puncture, paracentesis

Requirements

• Active Michigan medical license
• Board certified in Emergency Medicine; or Internal Medicine/Family Medicine with a minimum of 2 years recent ED experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
• Clean professional record and up-to-date immunizations/vaccinations
• Local candidates preferred; no flights required
