Join a busy gastroenterology team serving Fortuna and Eureka, CA, as a locum tenens gastroenterologist providing both inpatient and outpatient care. You’ll cover supplemental clinical shifts starting May 1, 2026, ongoing, with weekday clinics and dedicated call responsibilities. Typical clinic days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Call includes night coverage (5:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.) and 24-hour weekend shifts (7:30 a.m.–7:30 a.m.), with beeper response expected within 20–30 minutes.

Patient population is adult only. Typical volume is 12–16 clinic patients per day and 8–10 hospital patients. The practice mix is roughly 30% office and 70% hospital. You’ll join two physicians supported by one NP, three MAs, two procedure schedulers, and two front desk staff. The clinic has four exam rooms and uses Epic for EMR. Hospital privileges are required. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

Procedures performed include upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeders, variceal banding, ERCP, PEG placement, esophageal manometry interpretation, small bowel biopsy, and lower GI endoscopy (flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy with biopsy, polypectomy) and liver biopsy. Fluoroscopy capability is needed for ERCP.

Requirements: active California medical license, BC/BE in gastroenterology, DEA registration, and ability to perform ERCP and use fluoroscopy.
