Location: Saint Paul, MN — Hospital and Infusion Center (Allina Health float pool)

Start Date & Duration: Coverage begins 01/12/2026 and is ongoing (36 months with possible extension).

Schedule: Weekday clinical shifts Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. On-call evenings, nights, and weekends as assigned. Call is in-house; separate rates apply for callbacks, night call, and 24-hour coverage.

Who you’ll care for

  • Adult patients across inpatient hematology and oncology services, with an emphasis on malignant hematology and solid tumors.
  • Shared patient volume is roughly 30–40 patients, with ~20–23 patients per provider per day (2023 data).
  • Duties include admissions, daily rounding, and phone consults as part of call coverage. Infusion oversight is included.

Facility & team

  • Large 590-bed hospital using Epic EMR.
  • Standard inpatient and infusion resources available, with oncology/hematology subspecialty backup.
  • APP support provided for daytime inpatient coverage. This role fills an ongoing staffing need within the Allina Health float pool.

Privileges, credentialing & compliance

  • Hospital privileges are required; emergency temporary privileges available with an active MN license and clean background.
  • Typical credentialing timeline: ~90 days with an active Minnesota license, up to 120 days if licensure is needed.

Compensation & logistics

  • Orientation: 4 hours (non-billable).
  • Malpractice insurance is provided.
  • Call pay is separate and tiered (callback, night, 24-hour).

Core responsibilities

  • Independently manage inpatient malignant hematology cases and medical oncology/solid tumor patients.
  • Provide infusion center oversight and coverage.
  • Participate in scheduled clinical shifts and assigned on-call coverage.
  • Collaborate closely with APPs, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic.

Qualifications

  • Board certified in Hematology/Oncology.
  • Active Minnesota medical license preferred for quick start; IMLC accepted. If needed, allow time for licensing.
  • DEA registration required.
  • BLS required.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ hematology/oncology experience.
  • Comfortable managing complex inpatient oncology and hematology patients independently and taking in-house call.
