We’re looking for an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse to join a contract position in Albuquerque, NM. This is a local, non-travel assignment starting ASAP for approximately 9 weeks. The schedule is Monday–Wednesday, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM, with a pay rate of $1,012 per 36-hour week.
What you’ll need
- Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll provide hands-on nursing care under the supervision of RNs or physicians, helping ensure patients get safe, compassionate, and effective care. Typical duties include:
- Performing patient assessments (physical exams, medical histories, medication reviews) and contributing to individualized care plans.
- Administering medications and treatments accurately and following established protocols.
- Monitoring vital signs and documenting changes in condition, treatments given, and medication administration.
- Managing wound care—cleaning, dressing, assessing for infection or complications.
- Starting, monitoring, and maintaining IV therapy and urinary catheters as needed.
- Collecting specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing.
- Assisting with mobility, positioning, pain management, and general patient comfort and safety.
- Responding quickly and appropriately in emergencies, including providing basic life support.
- Following infection control practices and properly handling, storing, and disposing of meds and supplies.
- Educating patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and self-care to support recovery and wellness.
- Promoting preventive health measures like vaccinations and screenings.
- Collaborating with the healthcare team—RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and support staff—to coordinate care.
- Occasionally supervising CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when required.
- Staying current with nursing best practices and completing ongoing training.
- Performing other duties as assigned by management.
