Overview
Seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide patient-centered, bedside nursing care in a fast-paced clinical setting. This 14-week contract position requires dependable evening-to-night coverage and strong clinical skills in medication administration, wound care, patient assessment, and basic IV management.

Requirements

• Active, valid LPN license for the state of New Mexico
• BLS certification

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician supervision, including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring vital signs.
• Conduct patient assessments (physical exams, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, following protocols and documenting administration.
• Perform wound care: evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
• Obtain and document vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain accurate medical records.
• Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing as directed.
• Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids; ensure proper IV line care when within LPN scope.
• Provide catheter care and monitor for related complications.
• Promote patient education on diagnoses, medications, and self-care; support preventive health measures.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to coordinate care.
• Ensure patient comfort, assist with mobility and positioning, and support pain management.
• Respond to emergencies using established protocols and provide basic life support as required.
• Adhere to infection control standards and safe handling, storage, and disposal of medications and supplies.
• Advocate for patient rights and needs; supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
• Maintain professional development through continuing education and follow facility policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
