Requirements

  • Active, valid LPN license for the state of New Mexico
  • BLS certification

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction (medication administration, wound care, vital signs).
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately per orders and protocols.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds/incisions for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, including treatments and medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and discharge instructions.
  • Administer and monitor IV medications/fluids; ensure IV lines are functioning properly.
  • Provide catheter care (insertion support, maintenance, monitoring for complications).
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care.
  • Assist with patient mobility, positioning, comfort, and pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control protocols and use PPE appropriately.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies according to policies and regulations.
  • Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and support health assessments.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs within the care team.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by management.
