Locum tenens opportunity providing general orthopedic surgery coverage in Cottonwood, AZ at an acute care hospital and affiliated clinic. Coverage is call-focused with scheduled clinic days.

Assignment details

• Coverage type: Call-only (24-hour beeper call)
• Coverage period: Ongoing; initial blocks include Jan 16–19, 2026; Feb 12–16, 2026; Mar 27–30, 2026 (all starting 7:00 AM)
• Clinical schedule: Clinic coverage 12 days per block
• Call schedule: 24-hour beeper; call ratio/response and callback rates TBD

Patient population and case mix

• Adults and pediatric patients
• Typical volume: ~13 surgical cases per day; ~6 new consults per day
• Case mix: Routine (“bread-and-butter”) orthopedics, Level IV trauma, adult and pediatric cases
• Admissions, rounding, and phone consults required

Facility and support

• 87-bed hospital, Adult Level IV trauma center
• EMR: Cerner
• OR equipment and scrub technicians available; no APP first assist
• Specialty backup available as noted

Privileges, compliance, and compensation

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges TBD
• Rate: TBD
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance: provided

Required procedures and responsibilities

• General orthopedic surgery, including pelvic and acetabular fracture management and pediatric orthopedic cases
• Provide independent 24-hour beeper call coverage
• Perform indicated surgical procedures and respond to emergency consults
• Conduct clinic visits per schedule and document all care in Cerner

Qualifications

• Active Arizona medical license required (IMLC Letter of Qualification accepted)
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
• DEA registration required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of orthopedic surgery experience
• Ability to provide independent 24-hour call coverage
