Registered Nurse (RN) — Forensic Psychiatric / Correctional Facility (12-hr Shifts)

Join a team providing compassionate nursing care in a secure, state-operated forensic psychiatric facility in Saint Louis, Missouri. You’ll work with adults who have serious mental illness and complex needs, delivering hands-on nursing care, supporting treatment goals, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team — all while following facility protocols and state clinical standards.

What to expect

• Inpatient, secure mental health setting serving forensic patients
• 12-hour shifts: Day (6:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.) or Night (6:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.)
• Alternating 36- and 48-hour weeks; every other weekend required
• Pay range: $45–$55 per hour
• Ability to float to any unit and work at either FTC campus as needed

Who we’re looking for

• Current, active Missouri RN license in good standing
• At least 1 year of RN experience in a psychiatric and/or correctional setting
• At least 1 year of experience working in a travel, agency, contract, or temporary RN role
• Ability to pass required background checks, fingerprinting, drug screen, TB testing, and any required vaccinations
• Flexibility, strong communication skills, and comfort working in a secure environment

Core responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in line with physician orders, nursing standards, and facility procedures
• Monitor, assess, and document patient condition, behaviors, and responses to treatment
• Safely and accurately administer medications and treatments
• Collaborate actively with physicians, mental health professionals, and support staff as part of the treatment team
• Respond appropriately to psychiatric and medical emergencies in a secure setting
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation to meet state and facility requirements
• Complete required orientation, training, and ongoing competency activities
• Follow all security, safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct standards while on assignment
