Minimum Requirements

• Current, valid California Speech-Language Pathologist license (Department of Consumer Affairs)
• Master’s degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology or related field
• Resume demonstrating relevant clinical experience
• Knowledge of ASHA standards of care
• Ability to meet hospital security, safety, and documentation requirements
• Basic ASL knowledge and experience with diverse patient populations preferred

Core Responsibilities

• Provide speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and swallowing assessments and treatment per physician orders
• Administer and interpret facility-approved standardized assessments
• Develop, implement, and document individualized treatment plans and progress
• Deliver services to deaf and hard-of-hearing patients, using ASL when appropriate
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation compliant with Title 22 and hospital policies
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care
• Adhere to all Department of State Hospitals policies, facility procedures, safety, security, and confidentiality requirements
• Refer service limitations or concerns to the Chief Physician/Surgeon as required
• Provide services only when civil service staffing is unavailable, per facility designation
• Perform other related duties as assigned
