Locums Orthopedic Surgery Physician

We are seeking a Locums Orthopedic Surgery Physician to provide 24/7 emergency department and inpatient consultation coverage at a small rural community hospital in Red Bluff, California. This facility is a 72-bed community hospital and a Level III Trauma Center, serving a close-knit population with essential orthopedic needs. Higher-acuity cases are transferred to a tertiary facility to the north, allowing for full-scope general orthopedic coverage without complex subspecialty burden.

Compensation:  $2600 Per Day for 24 Hour Shift

 

Schedule & Coverage:

 

• Coverage Type: 24/7 ED and inpatient consult coverage
• Call Requirements: 24-hour call, including weekends
• Weekend Coverage: 24-hour call
• Setting: Community hospital (Level III Trauma Center)

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Provide 24/7 orthopedic consultation for the emergency department and inpatient services
• Manage and treat a full range of general orthopedic cases
• Perform orthopedic procedures within the scope of a community hospital setting
• Collaborate with emergency medicine providers, hospitalists, and nursing staff
• Ensure timely evaluation, treatment, and disposition of orthopedic patients

• Higher-level or complex cases transferred to a tertiary care facility as appropriate

Requirements:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
• Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency
• Active California medical license
• DEA registration
• California fluoroscopy permit
