Locums Orthopedic Surgery Physician

We are seeking a Locums Orthopedic Surgery Physician to provide 24-hour call coverage in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, supporting general orthopedic surgery and orthopedic trauma services. This opportunity is ideal for a physician comfortable managing general orthopedic call with limited trauma exposure, as higher-acuity trauma cases are stabilized and transferred to a tertiary facility.

 

Position Details

 

• Coverage Type: Orthopedic Surgery / Orthopedic Trauma Call Support

• Call Responsibility:

  • 24-hour call shift: 02/07/26 at 7:00 a.m. to 02/08/26 at 7:00 a.m. (race coverage)
• Practice Setting: Hospital-based
• EMR: Epic with Dragon dictation

 

Cases & Procedures

 

• General orthopedic call coverage
• Potential orthopedic trauma cases
• Larger or higher-acuity trauma cases are stabilized and transferred to a higher-level facility

 

Responsibilities

 

• Evaluate and manage orthopedic consults from the emergency department and inpatient units
• Perform operative and non-operative orthopedic procedures as indicated
• Collaborate with ED, trauma, and hospitalist teams to ensure high-quality patient care

 

Requirements

 

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
• Active Michigan medical license or ability to obtain
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Experience with general orthopedic call and trauma preferred
