Clinical scope

• Patient population: Adults, obstetric patients, healthy pediatrics (from 6 months)
• Typical daily pediatric volume: ~2 pediatric cases/day
• Case mix: General anesthesia, OB (labor epidurals and C-sections), vascular (including major/interventional and AAA), cath lab (ablations, PCI/stents, ICDs, EP studies, LAA occlusion), trauma, occasional NORA
• Regional anesthesia: Peripheral nerve blocks (primarily interscalene; occasional popliteal, supraclavicular)
• Procedures expected from Day 1: central and arterial line placement, management of difficult airways/intubations, regional blocks, full-spectrum intraoperative anesthesia

Facility and support

• Hospital size: 220+ beds
• Trauma designation: Level III
• EMR: Epic (also Vemsta for order entry/documentation)
• Backup specialties: Cardiology, surgery, obstetrics
• Support staff: RNs, APPs, anesthesia staff
• Reason for coverage: Staff departure

Privileges, credentialing, orientation

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges not available
• Credentialing timeline: listed as 6090 days (confirm with facility)
• In-person orientation required within two weeks prior to start

Requirements

• Licensure: Active Indiana license or participation in IMLC
• DEA: Active DEA registration
• Board: BC or BE in Anesthesiology
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA-issued)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years post-training anesthesiology experience
• Vaccinations: Flu and COVID-19 required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• Other: Must be able to perform all required procedures independently on Day 1; agency credentialing complete; clean background; no NPDB issues; availability for 6–8+ weeks as listed

Responsibilities

• Independently provide anesthesia for OR, OB, vascular, cath lab, trauma, and pediatric cases per scope above
• Perform regional and peripheral nerve blocks as needed
• Manage anesthesia without CRNA supervision
• Complete documentation and order entry in Epic and Vemsta
• Comply with all credentialing and hospital policies and attend required orientation
