Locum Tenens Cardiac Anesthesiologist — Night Shifts, CRNA Supervision, Epic (Charleston, WV)

Locum tenens opportunity in Charleston, West Virginia, providing cardiac anesthesiology coverage across inpatient and outpatient settings. Assignments run June 1, 2026 through December 2026 (with limited additional weeks possible before June). Night coverage is required, primarily 10-hour shifts (some 8- and 12-hour shifts); typical shift window is 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Providers may be asked to take on-call shifts on an as-needed basis.

Clinical scope and volume

• Adult patient population with variable census by site.
• Scheduled surgical and procedural cases, including cardiac anesthesia and a full spectrum of surgical procedures; kidney transplant cases only (no liver or heart transplants).
• Expect to float between multiple hospital sites as assigned.

Facility and support

• EMR: Epic.
• Standard anesthesia equipment provided.
• Multidisciplinary surgical backup available.
• CRNAs on staff who require physician supervision.
• Coverage need driven by expansion of anesthesia services across facilities.

Privileges, credentialing, and timeline

• Hospital privileges required; credentialing typically takes approximately 60–90 days.

Core responsibilities

• Provide cardiac and general anesthesiology services for scheduled procedures.
• Supervise CRNAs within a hospital-based anesthesia care team model.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure safe perioperative care.
• Accurately and promptly document care in Epic.
• Adhere to hospital policies, credentialing requirements, and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Active West Virginia medical license required (facility will not sponsor licensure).
• Board Certified in Anesthesiology.
• Active DEA registration and CSR.
• Required certifications: ABA, ACLS, BLS.
• Minimum two years’ experience in cardiac anesthesiology and related subspecialty care.
• Ability and willingness to supervise CRNAs and to float between facilities.
