Locum tenens opportunity in Cooperstown, NY, providing outpatient-only hematology and oncology coverage while the facility recruits a permanent provider. Start date: April 6, 2026, ongoing until full-time hire. Coverage: three full clinic days per week (FTE equivalent).

Clinical scope

• Adult outpatient population; case mix ~80% oncology, 20% hematology (benign and malignant).
• No inpatient admissions required; phone consults as clinically appropriate.
• Expected patient volume: clinic handles a large ambulatory census (approximately 1,215 patients/day across the practice).

Setting and support

• EMR: Epic.
• Onsite support: nurse and NP support; interventional radiology available for procedures (most bone marrow procedures handled by IR).
• Standard outpatient oncology clinic equipment provided.

Privileges, credentialing, and compliance

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges not available.
• Credentialing timeline: approximately 120 days.
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance covered.

Required qualifications

• Active New York medical license.
• Board certified in Hematology/Oncology.
• DEA registration as required for outpatient oncology practice.
• Current immunization records, flu vaccine or declination, and negative TB or QuantiFERON Gold test within one year of start.
• Experience in outpatient hematology/oncology and the ability to practice independently in an ambulatory setting.

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation and management for hematology and oncology patients.
• Manage benign and malignant hematologic conditions.
• Perform or coordinate procedures as required (bone marrow procedures primarily via IR).
• Document care in Epic and collaborate with NP and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care during the recruitment period.
