Job Description

Locum tenens opportunity in Beckley, WV providing combined inpatient and outpatient hematology/oncology care. Full-time coverage required (minimum availability three weeks per month) beginning May 1, 2026 on an ongoing 12-month contract. Clinical hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with inpatient call every third week (1:3 call ratio).

Clinical responsibilities include managing adult hematology and oncology patients (approximately 15 patients/day), admitting and rounding on inpatients during call weeks, performing bone marrow biopsies, providing phone consultations as clinically appropriate, collaborating with a multidisciplinary cancer care team, and documenting all encounters in Cerner in a timely manner.

Facility and support: Cerner EMR, standard oncology clinic equipment, and onsite support from nurses, CMAs, APPs, and specialty backup through the multidisciplinary cancer care team. Temporary hospital privileges are available with a clean background and no significant credential gaps; credentialing timeline approximately 4560 days. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

Required qualifications: active West Virginia medical license, board certification in hematology/oncology, active DEA, oncology fellowship, BLS and ACLS, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and families. Clean background required; pre-application required upon offer. Note: minimum 35 years of hematology/oncology experience listed.
