Coverage period: ASAP – ongoing
Schedule:

  • On-site clinical shifts: 1–2 weeks per month, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM
  • Night call: 8:00 PM–8:00 AM, beeper call, 15-minute response expectation
  • Call volume: ~1–3 callbacks overnight/week; 0–10 phone consults/night
    Patient volume: ~15–20 patients/day plus ~5 procedures/day
    Department beds: 239
    EMR: Epic
    Support: 1 NP/PA; supervision of APPs required
    Privileges: Temporary privileges available
    Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance covered

Required procedures and skills:

  • Upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, hemostatic interventions (cautery/laser), variceal injection
  • ERCP—diagnostic and therapeutic (including sphincterotomy and stent placement)
  • EUS and liver biopsy
  • PEG placement
  • Insertion/management of Sengstaken-Blakemore tube

Provider requirements:

  • Active OK medical license or participation in IMLC
  • BC/BE in Gastroenterology
  • Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited GI fellowship with ERCP training
  • ACLS certification
  • Case logs required: ProVation or other GI system logs; distinct and separate logs for EUS and ERCP covering the past 12 months
    • Must demonstrate either current competence with evidence of at least 200 therapeutic ERCPs, 40 sphincterotomies, and 10 stent placements in the past 12 months, or completion of training within the past 12 months

Shift responsibilities:

  • Inpatient rounds
  • Perform required procedures as listed
  • Provide clinical coverage and night call per schedule
  • Supervise and collaborate with APP(s)

Documentation required for credentialing:

  • Current CV
  • State license or IMLC verification
  • Board verification (BC/BE)
  • Fellowship completion certificate
  • ACLS certificate
  • Case logs (ProVation or equivalent) demonstrating required procedure volumes or recent completion of training
