Travel RN – Interventional Radiology (Procedural) – Carbondale, IL

We’re looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join an interventional radiology team in Carbondale, IL. This is a contract/travel opportunity with an immediate start. The schedule is Monday–Friday, days (8:00 AM–6:30 PM), totaling 36 hours per week. Pay is $2,686 per 36-hour week.

What you’ll be doing

• Perform thorough pre-procedure assessments: review histories, allergies, diagnostics, and prepare patients for procedures.
• Administer and monitor moderate (conscious) sedation, watching patient response and vital signs continuously.
• Assist radiologists with a variety of invasive procedures—biopsies, drain placements, vascular access, and device insertions.
• Monitor hemodynamics, cardiac rhythms, and airway status throughout procedures and be ready to respond to emergencies.
• Set up and maintain sterile fields, prepare procedural equipment, and troubleshoot as needed.
• Manage vascular access devices, IV infusions, medication administration, and emergency interventions when required.
• Provide post-procedure care: monitor recovery, manage pain or complications, and ensure patients meet discharge criteria.
• Educate patients and families about the procedure, what to expect, and post-procedure instructions.
• Collaborate with technologists, radiologists, anesthesia providers, and other members of the care team.
• Accurately document assessments, medications, sedation levels, and procedural details in the EMR.

What we’re looking for

• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• 1–2 years minimum acute care nursing experience; backgrounds in ICU, ED, PACU, or procedural areas are preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; PALS may be required depending on patient population.
• Demonstrated competency in moderate sedation, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and basic airway management.
• Strong IV skills and experience with central lines, vascular access, and sterile technique.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, respond to emergencies, and take call if required.
