We’re looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join a team in Las Cruces, NM for a 14-week contract/travel assignment starting ASAP. This role follows a 06:00 AM–06:30 PM schedule and offers a travel rate of $1,523 for 36 hours.

What we need from you

  • Active, valid LPN state license
  • BLS certification

What you’ll be doing (day-to-day)

  • Provide hands-on nursing care under RN or physician direction — med administration, wound care, vitals, and more.
  • Perform focused patient assessments (physical checks, histories, med reviews) and help develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and per protocol.
  • Clean, dress, and manage wounds/incisions while watching for signs of infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temp, respiration) and any changes in condition.
  • Keep clear, timely patient records of treatments, meds, and progress.
  • Teach patients and families about conditions, meds, and self-care to support recovery and wellness.
  • Start and manage IV lines and infusions when required, ensuring proper function and safety.
  • Care for patients with urinary catheters, including insertion, maintenance, and complication monitoring.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing as needed.
  • Work closely with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate care.
  • Assist with patient comfort and safety — positioning, mobility support, and pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies following facility protocols and provide basic life support when necessary.
  • Follow strict infection-control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate PPE use.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies safely and in compliance with guidelines.
  • Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and support health assessments.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs within the care team and facility.
  • Supervise CNAs or other assistive staff when required to ensure quality care.
  • Stay current with nursing best practices and complete required training.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
