Contract/Travel LPN — Newport, VT

Requirements

• Valid, active LPN license for the state of practice
• BLS certification

Core responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital signs, and basic nursing procedures.
• Perform patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately according to orders and protocols.
• Evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor wounds and surgical sites for infection or complications.
• Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition.
• Maintain accurate patient records of treatments, medications, and status changes.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive measures.
• Administer and monitor IV medications/fluids and manage IV lines as appropriate.
• Provide urinary catheter care: insertion (if within scope), maintenance, and monitoring for complications.
• Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
• Assist with patient comfort, positioning, mobility, and pain management.
• Respond to medical emergencies following protocol and provide basic life support as required.
• Follow infection control practices and PPE use.
• Handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies per regulations.
• Advocate for patient rights and needs.
• Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
• Complete mandatory training and stay current with nursing standards.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
