Contract LPN position in Rutland, VT. Start ASAP for a 13-week assignment. Night shift: 10:00 PM–6:30 AM. Local rate: $1,280 per 40 hours.

Requirements:

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse state license
  • BLS certification

Core responsibilities:

  • Provide direct bedside nursing under RN/physician direction, including medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, catheter care, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Conduct patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed treatments and medications accurately and document all care, condition changes, and interventions in patient records.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds and surgical sites for signs of infection or complications.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing and manage specimen handling per policy.
  • Monitor and maintain IV lines and fluids, ensuring correct insertion, function, and documentation.
  • Assist with patient comfort, mobility, positioning, pain management, and safety measures.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide basic life support following established protocols.
  • Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, self-care, preventive measures, and wellness.
  • Follow strict infection control practices, including PPE use and hand hygiene.
  • Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies according to regulations.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (RNs, physicians, therapists, support staff) to coordinate care and advocate for patient needs.
  • May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel as assigned.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and comply with policies and regulatory standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
