Location: Tuscumbia, AL | Type: Contract (Non-Travel) | Start: ASAP | Duration: 7 weeks | Shift: 6:00 PM–6:30 AM | Rate: $983 per 36 hours

Requirements:

  • Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
  • BLS certification

Overview:
Provide skilled practical nursing care under RN or physician direction in a fast-paced clinical setting. Deliver safe, patient-centered care while documenting accurately, collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, and following facility policies and protocols.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform patient assessments (physical exams, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments with correct dosing and adherence to orders and protocols.
  • Monitor, document, and report vital signs and patient condition changes promptly.
  • Provide wound care: evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
  • Insert, manage, and monitor IV lines and administer IV medications/fluids as indicated.
  • Manage urinary catheters, including insertion, maintenance, and complication surveillance.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Maintain accurate, timely patient records of treatments, medications, and condition changes.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Assist with patient comfort, mobility, positioning, and pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies per protocols and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices, proper PPE use, and safe handling/disposal of medications and supplies.
  • Advocate for patient rights and coordinate care with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and support staff.
  • May supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and other duties as assigned by management.
